Product Details
The QIAGEN tube magnet is a convenient separation device for use in cell separation, magnetocapture, immunoassays and purification of 6xHis-tagged proteins. The beads are pulled to the side of the tube by the magnetic field, which has a strength of greater than 20 megaoersted, and are held in place while solutions are exchanged or removed. Removal of the magnetic field allows easy resuspension of the magnetic particles.
Principle
The 12-Tube Magnet consists of a series of 12 powerful NdFeB (neodymium-iron-boron) magnetic disks. Each magnetic disk attracts the beads in a 1.5 ml or 2 ml tube fitted in an adjacent hole. After capture of 6xHis-tagged proteins, the magnetic beads are pulled to the side of the tubes and kept in place while buffers are exchanged. A second series of holes allows resuspension of the magnetic beads away from the magnetic field to enable thorough washing.
