Bovine Pituitary Extract (BPE) is usually used as a mitogenic supplement in serum-free growth medium. Studies suggest that this compound contains growth factors required for proliferation of melanocytes. Additional experiments show that, in addition to its mitogenic activity, BPE displays antioxidant characteristics. BPE has been reported to provide protection against H2O2-induced cell death, protein oxidation, membrane fragmentation, and deoxyribonucleic acid damage.

保存方式
Store the BPE at -20°C until ready for use. Repeated freeze-thaws will reduce activity and should be avoided by proper aliquoting.
