The NK-1 monoclonal antibody specifically reacts with a 110 kDa carbohydrate antigen associated with myelin-associated glycoprotein expressed on 7-35% of normal peripheral blood lymphocytes including a subset of natural killer cells, a subset of CD8-positive peripheral blood T cells, and on some neural tissues. CD57 is not expressed on granulocytes, platelets, red blood cells or thymocytes. The function of CD57 is still unclear, however, its expression on T-cell subets occurs in late immune responses. This antibody is routinely tested by flow cytometric analysis. Other applications were tested at BD Biosciences Pharmingen during antibody development only or reported in the literature.
